Over the past 2 years the Orchestra has undergone some big changes. From the rough and ready 5 piece of 2009 to the slick and powerful 7 piece of 2015, the band is unrecognisable. We have worked hard in that time to put together a band that whilst organised, professional and well-rehearsed has all the energy and excitement that a modern audience desires. Still focussing on the swing repertoire of the 1920s through to
the early 1950s, the Orchestra is better than ever! Evoking the sounds and sensations of the golden era of entertainment – on stage, in the studio, and when putting pen to manuscript paper.
In the latest incarnation, the band features a talented troupe of musicians – drummer, double bassist, pianist, tenor saxophonist, clarinetist, trumpeter, all providing backing vocals, and fronted by Benoit on rhythm guitar and lead vocals. The new 3 part horn section is the Orchestra’s secret weapon and they are key to delivering a rich and exciting sound. Over 40 tunes have been sourced and arranged from the classic repertoire for the new 7 piece, and there are many more in the pipe line!
2014’s release Mon Amour was a personal triumph. It was the first time the new band had gone into the studio together, but that was only the beginning. A year later, the band is well established and we have plans to take our love of swing and vintage entertainment to new audiences. Always searching out the best material, writing new songs and working towards a truly spectacular show!
