2015 has already seen us faced with some exciting new ventures and changes; our new residencies, fresh material, new members and the opportunity to star in several television and film productions. The most high profile of which is short film about a young boy diagnosed with a terminal illness and how his mother comes to terms with her impending loss. From independent filmmaker Andy Wooding comes To Trend On Twitter; a satirical poke at contemporary society’s obsession with an idealised virtual presence, celebrity and how a mother’s grief can, through social media, rocket her into fame.
Jazzing up proceedings, with original tunes It Ain’t Me and Mon Amour, were yours-truly, Benoit Viellefon & his Orchestra. Set in Brockley’s own, the glamorous, Rivoli Ballroom we spent a fantastic day filming the party scenes for the movie and rubbing shoulders with fresh talent Keeley-Jo Jupp, who plays lead character Susie Jenkins. Also appearing in the film are British comedy stars David Baddiel and Helen Lederer, who give their support with guest cameos.
So many people have given their time and resources to making this film happen and we were extremely happy to contribute to such an interesting and worthy project as all of the film’s proceeds are being donated to a charity in aid of children’s cancer. To Trend on Twitter has inspired a huge number of people, rich and poor, famous and anonymous, to create awareness of and to support a great cause.
The film is set for release in early October 2015 and we hope you will show your support for the cause and for our music by going to watch it!
